When Shara was born she was given to the local monastery in Hunderith as is the ancient custom with devas, or “avatars” as they are called in those parts. It is there that she relearned and remembered the teachings of Bragi, of justice and retribution, and of her own heritage as a deva. But something was wrong about Shara. Something was missing.

Although she has never encountered another deva in this lifetime, she knows that something is different about her. For most devas, their past lives are ever-present though oftentimes hard to interpret, like a massive, blurred tapestry condensed to fit inside a mortal shell. Time may fragment the past, but there is a unity, a whole. Shara, however, has a terrible void in her mind. She has absolutely no memories of the past 100 years. There is a gap in the tapestry – a rip, a tear – and no one can explain why.

Some of the older priests wonder whether this amnesia is at all related to her atypical behavior as a child. When Shara was younger, before she had regained a sense of control and poise, she had violent and destructive outbursts, much to the surprise of the worshipers of Bragi. Over the years, Shara has learned for the most part to direct her unexplainable rage into righteous fury, but even today she sometimes loses control.

Many of the priests believe her to be an avatar of vengeance, sent by Bragi for some great purpose, but Shara has begun to suspect that something darker lurks inside of her and she questions why she cannot remember what she did and who she was in her past life.

When she heard from a messenger that the Angel of Laranthe had disappeared, something clicked inside her mind. A bolt unlatched and a door opened. She knew that this child was important and knew that she had to protect it. Was this somehow connected to her missing memories? She immediately set off for Laranthe. Now, as she approaches the city, she can feel anger welling up inside of her.
Shara is 6’3” with short white hair and white skin. She wears a dark gray hooded robe over black leather armor. She acts with purpose and relentlessness. When she is not acting she is eerily still.
